Rashaad Vahed, Social Worker

Rashaad is a highly experienced clinician who has been trained and supervised in integrative family therapy, cognitive behavioural treatment and contemporary relational psychotherapy.  He is currently a Regional Clinical Supervisor with the Office of the Children's Lawyer (Ministry of the Attorney General, Ontario, Canada). In this capacity, Rashaad supervises Clinical Investigators in the integration of clinical and legal issues in the performance of Custody and Access Assessments.   

Previously, Rashaad spent ten years working in children’s mental health.  In 2007, he became the Manager of Clinical Services at The George Hull Centre for Children and Families.  In this capacity, he supervised a multi-disciplinary team in the provision of services for children from birth to age 18.  This has included an array of programs including outpatient treatment, group treatment, day treatment and intensive services. 

Prior to this, he worked for many years at Peel Children’s Aid Society as a Family Services Worker.  In addition, at the Canadian Red Cross Society Rashaad worked at the provincial and local levels in community development, as well as in youth engagement. 

Rashaad has an active connection with the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work (University of Toronto). He has been Chair of the Faculty Council for the past four years, is current Chair of the Association of Academic Teaching Centres, is a Co-Chair of the 2014 - 100th Year Campaign.  Finally, Rashaad is an Assistant Professor (status-only) with the Faculty. 

Recently, Rashaad has begun to support the profession of social work  as a Central Ontario Regional Director with the Ontario Association of Social Workers (2012 - 2014).
